Colic antispasmin ® Papaverine hydrochloride + belladonna extract

ANTISPASMINA COLICA ® is a drug based on papaverine hydrochloride and belladonna

THERAPEUTIC GROUP: spasmolytics, anticholinergics

Indications Colic antispasmin ® Papaverine hydrochloride + belladonna extract

ANTISPASMINA COLICA® is indicated in the treatment of painful manifestations of a spastic nature, due to involuntary contractions of the smooth muscles of the gastro-intestinal tract.

Mechanism of action Colic antispasmin ® Papaverine hydrochloride + belladonna extract

The spasmolytic effect of ANTISPASMINA COLICA ® is due to the combination of two active ingredients:

  • Papaverine hydrochloride : opiate alkaloid able to interfere with normal intracellular signaling, reducing the contractile capacity of smooth muscle. This property is realized with the reduction of spasms at the gastro-intestinal level, and with a marked vasodilatory action at the vascular level.
  • Belladonna : belonging to the family of solanaceae, it is particularly rich in alkaloids such as atropine, scopolamine and joscina, known for their marked anticholinergic action mainly on muscarinic receptors of smooth muscle fibrocells. By reducing the excitability induced by acetylcholine, these alkaloids can ensure a significant reduction in smooth muscle contraction, with a significant decrease in spastic episodes.

Studies carried out and clinical efficacy

1 PAPAVERINA AND ERECTILE DEFECTION

Several studies have highlighted a particular utility of one of the active ingredients of ANTISPASMINE COLICA (papaverine) in the treatment of erectile dysfunction. This effect could be given by the relaxing action of the papaverine on the smooth vascular musculature, with a significant increase in the vascular flow in the penile area. 2. PAPAVERINA AND COLOSSIA BY INTOXICATION

This study has shown that papaverine may be particularly important in the treatment of colitis induced by toxic agents, such as dextran sodium sulfate. More precisely, this action would be expressed in counteracting the vasoconstriction of intestinal arterioles induced by the harmful compound, responsible for bleeding, weight loss and intestinal pain.

3. BELLADONNA AND IRRITABLE COLONY SYNDROME

The administration of Belladonna and fenobabital extracts ensured a significant regression of symptoms associated with irritable bowel syndrome. More precisely, the best results have been obtained in the control of nervousness and sleep disorders, rather than in reducing the preeminent diarrhea.

Method of use and dosage

ANTISPASMINA COLICA ® confetti type "NORMALE" (papaverine hydrochloride 10 mg + belladonna titred in josciamina to 1% - 10mg): for adults we recommend from 2 to 6 confetti per day;

ANTISPASMINA COLICA ® confectionery type "FORTE" (papaverine hydrochloride 50 mg + belladonna titrated in 1% josciamina - 10mg): 1 to 3 confetti per day are recommended for adults.

It is advisable to take the whole sugared almonds before meals or when needed, so that they can reach the intestine intact, exercising the desired spasmolytic action.

In case of diarrhea or hypermotility of the intestine, the confetti could pass unaltered in the intestinal tract and be intact evacuated without having carried out its therapeutic action. Exclusively in this case, it may be useful to break up the candy before taking it
