Indications C TARD ® - Ascorbic Acid

Mechanism of action C TARD ® - Ascorbic acid

Ascorbic acid, active ingredient of C TARD ® is a water-soluble vitamin involved in numerous enzymatic reactions and in different metabolic pathways.

Its importance, in the cellular economy, is mainly due to its direct and indirect antioxidant activity, very effective in preventing oxidative damage induced by reactive oxygen species.

However the same vitamin also falls into numerous other biological reactions such as:

  • Synthesis of carnitine and mitochondrial metabolism of fatty acids;
  • Synthesis of steroid hormones and catecholamines, necessary for endocrine homeostasis;
  • Synthesis of collagen, the main protein of the extracellular matrix of connective tissues;
  • Strengthening of immunomodulatory activity.

For this reason, therefore, the serious deficiencies of vitamin C inevitably affect the overall health of the organism, significantly compromising different functionalities.

Studies carried out and clinical efficacy

1. VITAMIN EC PREVENTION OF POST-OPERATIVE HYPOVITAMINOSIS

The prophylaxis with vitamin C, has proved to be useful in preventing hypovitaminosis which usually occurs in the post-operative phases.

2. VITAMIN C IN THE PREVENTION OF THE MUNICIPAL COOLER

Unfortunately, vitamin C prophylaxis proved to be ineffective in reducing the incidence and severity of cold symptoms. It is therefore useful to use anti-inflammatories.

3. VITAMIN EC PREVENTION OF GASTRIC CARCINOMA

Very important prospective study that shows how higher blood concentrations of vitamin C can prevent the insult to the gastric mucosa, reducing the risk of gastric carcinoma by Helicobacter Pylori
