Product features Tribulus Maximus - BIOTECH USA

Tribulus Terrestris - plant belonging to the Zygophyllaceae family, native to Asia and Australia, used for centuries mainly as a tonic and energizing, in traditional medicines such as Chinese and Ayurvedic. In sports, on the other hand, tribulus terestris has been used as the nth and ineffective natural stimulator of endogenous testosterone synthesis.

The molecular characterization of this plant, and in particular of its fruits, has highlighted the presence of flavonoids, starches, alkaloids and saponins, each of which has different practical implications.

Among all these compounds, and others still in the individuation phase, we focused on a principle, the PROTODIOSCIN, which seems to be responsible for the anabolic-like and stimulating effects of this plant. A study conducted on animal models, rats and rabbits, has shown that this compound, belonging to the saponin family, can significantly increase the levels of luteinizing hormone (LH), dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA), testosterone, dihydrotestosterone and increase both spermatogenesis and the frequency of the couplings.

Protodioscin has also found applications in the treatment of human erectile dysfunctions, probably due to the stimulating action on the release of the most powerful vasodilator available to us (nitric oxide), although its effectiveness has not yet been demonstrated.

Tribulus in sports

As already mentioned, supplements based on this plant extract are used by many sportsmen with the hope of increasing endogenous testosterone levels, supporting muscle growth and supporting the anabolic phase. With the same intent, some bodybuilders hope to be able to increase endogenous testosterone levels at the end of a doping cycle with steroid anabolic hormones, trying to minimize the side effects that this practice involves (decrease in endogenous synthesis).

Rationale - Tribulus Maximus - BIOTECH USA

Although studies on animal models have reported encouraging results, these turn out to be somewhat meaningless, when compared to those performed on humans. A known practice is in fact to broaden and generalize the effects recorded on laboratory animals, or on individuals affected by certain pathologies, to the healthy and trained human organism, regardless of the enormous interspecies and intraspecies variability. In light of the above - even considering the experimental studies conducted on animals - we will take as reference, for the evaluation of the efficacy of this product, studies that document the activity of tribulus on humans. The scientific literature shows different works in this respect:

  1. Study on 22 rugby athletes with 450 mg / day of tribulus for 5 weeks: no increase in lean mass, no increase in muscle strength, no difference in the urinary testosterone / epitestosterone ratio;
  2. Study on 21 healthy individuals subjected to supplementation with 10/20 mg / kg / day for 4 weeks: no difference in plasma testosterone, androstenedione and LH levels;
  3. Study on 15 healthy subjects at 3.21 mg / kg / day for 8 weeks: no change in weight and body composition.
  4. Study conducted on prepared athletes shows no change in blood characteristics after supplementation for 20 days with tribulus.

These and other studies allow us to draw conclusions about the inefficacy of tribulus, in endogenous testosterone stimulation in healthy humans, even at important dosages.

Recommended use by the company - Tribulus Maximus - BIOTECH USA

Swallow 2 capsules a day in a glass of water.

Use in sports - Tribulus Maximus - BIOTECH USA

The various studies seem to agree on the ineffectiveness of tribulus-based supplements, even if used at very different dosages. No result was in fact obtained at modest dosages (450mg / day) or important (20 / mg / kg / day), both for short and prolonged periods.

It is therefore very difficult to define an optimal dosage in sports, given also the absence of precise studies on its pharmacokinetics and biodistribution.

Tribulus Maximus side effects - BIOTECH USA

Fortunately, the side effects also seem to be insignificant, although there have been cases of abdominal pain. To be documented is a study that reported the presence of gynecomastia following the chronic use of tribulus terrestris.

Interactions Tribulus Maximus - BIOTECH USA

Although the pharmacokinetics of this product is not characterized, it is known that saponins can interfere with the absorption of different substances, significantly changing their bioavailability.

Among the typical effects of saponins in general we can remember the expectorant, mediated by an irritant action on the mucosa, cholesterol-lowering, anti-edema and anti-inflammatory.

Precautions for use Tribulus Maximus - BIOTECH USA

The product is contraindicated in cases of renal or hepatic disease, cardiovascular disease and / or hypertension, during pregnancy, during lactation and under 14 years.
