Indications NEURABEN ® - B vitamins

NEURABEN ® is indicated in the treatment of vitamin B1, B6 and B12 deficiency states especially when associated with neurological symptoms such as polyneuritis.

Mechanism of action NEURABEN ® - B vitamins

The neurites are a series of pathologies, characterized by inflammation and degeneration of one or more nerve fibers, among whose causes it is also possible to include the deficit of vitamins B1, B6 and B12, especially in particular risk groups such as chronic alcoholics or subjects severely malnourished.

The role of these vitamins in preserving the health of the nerves is mainly due to their antioxidant and biosynthetic role respectively useful in protecting the nerve fiber and in particular its myelin coating from the lipid peroxidation exerted by the reactive oxygen species, and the synthesis of nucleic acids and fatty acids necessary to maintain neuronal trophicity.

Furthermore, vitamin B12, acting as a cofactor of the L-methylmalonyl-CoA mutase enzyme, allows the body to be detoxified from a compound with a strong neurotoxic potential such as methylmalonic acid.

The chemical species chosen instead for the vitamin composition of NEURABEN ®, guarantee an optimization of intestinal absorption, allowing at the same time a rapid biotransformation of the same in biologically active products.

Studies carried out and clinical efficacy

1. THE EFFECTS OF VITAMIN B12 ON NEURONAL CELLS

In vitro study that evaluates the genesis of neuronal damage in case of vitamin B12 deficiency. The results show that vitamin B12 deficiency can be severe, preventing proper cell differentiation and therefore facilitating the proliferation of neuroblastoma cells.

2. DEFICIENCY OF THIAMINE AND PROTEIN AMYLOID

Experimental study that demonstrates how severe thiamine deficiency can determine the accumulation of amyloid substance in rat brains, thus representing a potential inducing stimulus for the development of neurodegenerative pathologies.

3. VITAMINS OF THE BE NEURITE INDUCED GROUP

Study demonstrating that supplementation with B vitamins may be effective in improving nerve conductivity in mouse models of neurotoxic damage.

Method of use and dosage

NEURABEN ®

Capsules for oral use 100 mg of benzoyloxymethylthiamine, 150 mg of pyridoxine hydrochloride and 500 mcg of cyanocobalamin.

The vitamin dosages present in NEURABEN ® are perfectly suited to the therapeutic needs envisaged for the treatment of deficient polyneuritis.

The recommended dosage, clearly always under a medical indication, involves taking one capsule 3 times a day.

Warnings NEURABEN ® - B vitamins

It is useful to remember that the presence of pyridoxine could antagonize the biological effects of Levodopa, thus reducing the therapeutic effects expected for the treatment of Parkinson's disease.

The vitamin B12 present in this drug is not able to guarantee the same therapeutic effects expected for the injection form used for example in the treatment of pernicious anemia.

PREGNANCY AND BREASTFEEDING

NEURABEN ® could also be used during pregnancy and in the subsequent period of breastfeeding, as long as everything happens under the supervision of your doctor.

Interactions

Despite the known drug interactions, they are only rarely a source of medical concern, it should be remembered that the simultaneous intake of proton pump inhibitors could reduce the intestinal absorption of cyanocobalamine.

At the same time it is useful to consider the antagonizing effects of vitamin B6 on drugs used for the treatment of Parkinson's disease such as levodopa.

Contraindications NEURABEN ® - B vitamins

NEURABEN ® is contraindicated in case of hypersensitivity to the active ingredients or to the relative excipients.

Undesirable effects - Side effects

The use of NEURABEN ®, according to medical prescription, is free of particular side effects.

Only in rare cases, characterized by increased dosages or prolonged periods of long-term intake, were gastro-intestinal adverse reactions observed.

The presence of vitamin B6 could also be responsible for allergic reactions.

Note

NEURABEN © is a SOP drug, therefore it can be sold in pharmacies without a prescription.
