Indications PANOXYL ® Benzoyl peroxide

PANOXYL ® is used in the medical treatment of acne, even in the presence of comedones, papules, pustules and small nodules.

Mechanism of action PANOXYL ® Benzoyl peroxide

Benzoyl peroxide, the active ingredient of PANOXYL ®, is a molecule used in the clinical treatment of acne given the multiplicity of biological activities it is able to exercise.

More precisely, benzoyl peroxide can:

  • reduce the production of sebum, thus exercising a sebostatic action, useful in reducing the risk of filling the pores, thus compromising the ideal microenvironment for the growth of comedogenic bacterial strains such as Propionibacterium acnes;
  • induce a modest keratolytic and exfoliating action, able to reduce the typical hyperkeratinization that is observed during acne, regularizing the dermatological environment treated;
  • directly control the proliferation of Proprionibacterium acnes, through a bacteriostatic action useful in reducing the incidence of inflammatory lesions sustained by bacterial infections.

All the aforementioned actions are also optimizing with good pharmacokinetic properties which allow benzoyl peroxide, following its topical application, to carry out its activity exclusively at the local level.
