Precautions to Pilates: Scouts and Injuries

In itself, Pilates does NOT represent an excessively dangerous activity even if, by exploiting certain movements at the limits of articular excursions, it cannot even be defined as totally harmless! It must also be specified that, in addition to the discipline itself, there are many other variables responsible for the increase or decrease in risks related to Pilates; one of these is certainly related to the type of instructor who teaches it.

In addition to the subjective "skill", on which alas it is not possible to intervene, it is also quite important to make sure that the trainer in question is qualified, or that he has followed the due training course. It may seem trivial, but it is not at all!

In fact, in the USA, the term Pilates has entered the free language, that is without limitations. This was decreed in October of 2000 by a Federal Court which defined the noun in question "generic and free, for unlimited use". Therefore, anyone in the United States, trained or beginner, is free to offer professional or amateur Pilates teaching to the public. Probably the creator of the discipline (Joseph Pilates: December 9, 1883 - October 9, 1967), who dedicated his entire life studies to Pilate ... everything was expected except for a similar rip-off! What would be the risk of relying on an incompetent instructor in the exercise of Pilates? We assume that this kind of training is based on the principle of safety, which is why (according to practitioners), no precaution should be required. The Pilates protocols that each instructor should know (as modified and developed throughout history) and a continuous check of the users' health conditions, would represent a guarantee of safety ALSO for precarious subjects such as: bedridden, injured, children, pregnant women, postpartum women, osteoporotics, suffering from arthritis and arthrosis, etc.
