E251-SODIUM NITRATE

Sodium nitrate is a chemical preservative, which appears as a white powder, used as a preservative to keep the natural colors of food longer.

It is considered a fairly dangerous additive, used above all in meat and meat products, cheese, pizza etc.

Nitrates do not have great side effects per se, but being able to be transformed into nitrite, through heating or through other processes, can cause hyperactivity, asthma, insomnia, nausea, dizziness, lowering of blood pressure etc.

Frequent consumption above the ADI dose is not recommended.

ADI DOSE: 3.7-5.0 mg per kg of body weight
