Ebola: is there a vaccine?

At present, there are no authorized vaccines against the Ebola virus, however the hope is focused on at least two products - the second phase of the clinical trial - that could curb the epidemic.

The first vaccine comes from scientists from the Canadian Public Health Agency, while the second is developed by the British GlaxoSmithKline, in collaboration with the US National Institutes of Health and the Italian company Okairos. In the near future, the clinical tests performed on these products will have to ascertain whether the induction of the immunological response is effective in humans, as well as verifying the possible appearance of side effects.

Another five vaccines, then, should be tested in the early months of 2015.
