Definition
Nasal polyps are small, non-cancerous, drop-shaped cell proliferations that develop on the nasal mucosa and paranasal sinuses. The characteristic symptoms of nasal polyposis are due to the progressive growth of these findings, which can significantly obstruct the nasal airways, making breathing difficult, causing the sense of smell to be lost and predisposing to the development of sinusitis. Most common symptoms and signs *

Further indications
Nasal polyps are frequently associated with allergic rhinitis, asthma and frequent episodes of sinusitis. Surgical removal is followed by their reappearance in about 70% of cases. In addition to the aforementioned symptoms we report the fairly common presence of an annoying sense of itching around the eyes; when the polyps are small the disease is generally asymptomatic.
