The longest bone in the human body is the femur, which also boasts the strongest and most voluminous bone in the body. Suffice it to say that when the body lands after a jump, the femurs impact half an ton or more.
The length of the femur varies according to the height of the individual. Furthermore, the relationship between the trunk / length of the femur varies according to the breed it belongs to; the black one, in fact, has proportionately longer femurs, of equal stature.
On average, however, it has been calculated that the length of the femur is equal to 26.74% of a person's height, which means that the femur of individuals 1.75m tall measures an average of about 47cm in length.
The curvature, the robustness and the length of the femur are an essential requirement of the bipid posture, therefore in the archaeological findings they help anthropologists to study the evolution from hominids to man.
