Nervous hunger

Edited by Roberto Eusebio

What is nervous hunger and why does it take us?

The causes can be biological and / or psychological

Biological causes

"Eating" while not being hungry is an alteration of the control mechanism by the hypothalamus. There are sentinels in the brain that warn the body when the sugar level is too low (decrease in blood sugar - hypoglycemia) and induce the need for food and actions to get it. Perhaps at the base of obesity, of eating disorders in general and in particular of nervous hunger, there is a malfunctioning of these mechanisms.

Psychological causes

"Eating" despite not being hungry, being assailed by an irrepressible impulse, by a compulsive act, seized by a raptus and gorging on anything, only to feel guilty immediately afterwards.

You can have nervous hunger out of boredom, if for example we don't know what to do, out of anxiety, sadness, low self-esteem, loneliness.

Nervous hunger leads us to replace the affection, the security or the joy we do not have with food.

We think and reflect at the first stages of life, when the mother offers the feeding to the crying child, even if hunger is not the real reason for crying, creating confusion in the child between the state of hunger and the state of request for affection.

Combat nervous hunger

First phase: eliminate the causes.

Understanding why we are sad, what causes us a certain anxiety, because we feel particularly alone. Questions to which it is necessary to give an answer in order to alleviate and reduce episodes of nervous hunger.

Second phase: physical exercise.

Constantly playing a sport and / or practicing relaxation techniques (autogenic training, power yoga, pilates ...) definitely helps to calm nervous hunger.

Third phase: herbs and natural products

Citrus aurantium and rodiola rosea manage to control nervous hunger.

Linden, lemon balm, angelica and passionflower help calm anxiety.

The supplements based on glucomannan, guar gum, cellulose and inulin, on the other hand, as they are not well digested swell in the stomach in the presence of water and give a sense of satiety.

ALWAYS REMEMBER THAT ANYTHING THE MIND COMMANDS ON THE BODY !!
