The blood glucose values (glycaemia) are expressed in milligrams per deciliter (mg / dL) or in millimoles per liter (mmol / L); this last unit of measurement is the one adopted by the SI and as such represents the reference standard at international level.
To help you express your blood sugar levels in the two different units of measurement, we have prepared a simple calculation form.
Normal values
Fasting glucose values | (Mg / dl) | (Mmol / L) |
NORMAL | 70-99 | 3.9 - 5.5 |
Altered (IFG) | 100-125 | > 5.5 - <7.0 |
Diabetes | > 126 | > 7.0 |
* IFG = alternating fasting blood glucose
Blood glucose after 120 'from the oral glucose load (OGTT) | (Mg / dl) | (Mmol / L) |
NORMAL | <140 | <7.8 |
Alterata (IGT) | > 140 <200 | > 7.8 <11.1 |
Diabetes | > 200 | > 11.1 |
* IGT = alternating glucose tolerance
