Football: lineout

The lineout is used when the ball passes, with all its circumference, the side line of the field.

The ball must be thrown with the hands (both at the same time) not beyond the limit of the center of one's head, with both feet on the ground and out of the line of the field.

The ball can be thrown from a standstill or with a run-up. In the first case the player grabs the ball with the palm of the hands and with the fingers that softly adhere to the ball. At the start of the movement the player takes a position of lateral or anterior posterior divaricata. The ball is then carried up, above the head. At this point the whole body leans backwards and the actual launch begins: thanks to a "whip" the ball is carried forward and released when it is above the head, or just ahead.

In the run-in lineout, the ball is thrown even further. In this case we must be careful not to take your feet off the ground, which can be done more easily in the event of a run-up.

Some tips to make a throw-in correctly:

do not use one arm more forcefully than the other;

do not lift one or both feet off the ground;

do not drop the ball in front of you;

be facing the playing field;

do not place one or both feet on the lateral line (or inside the playing field).

Most common mistakes about the technique of performing a throw-in:

support the ball with your hands from the sides;

keep wrists locked when throwing the ball;

do not arch your body sufficiently backwards;

uncoordinated movements between them.

Exercises

it is necessary to work on the distance and the precision of the relaunch: coordinate the various components of the movement, measuring the strength of all the muscular districts. To be precise, we must practice evaluating the distance of the companion and the time of movement.
