Some rules for a correct and correct diet

Curated by Sebastiano Sessa, nutrition consultant

I believe it is important never to eat your fill, but rather to get up from the table with a slight sensation of appetite. Every bite should be chewed slowly and for a long time: the food is thus salted and better digested. In fact, saliva contains an enzyme, ptyalin, which has the task of transforming cooked starch (pasta, bread) into maltose (sugar) that is easy to assimilate.

You must eat slowly to avoid swelling and heaviness that may arise as a result of difficult digestion. One should not drink during meals, but between meals; it is good not to drink even during the half hour that precedes them and this in order not to dilute the digestive digestive juices. I also recommend avoiding eating vegetables, cereals and potatoes together because they involve different digestion and absorption times: abuse leads to intestinal pain and diarrhea. In addition to the three main meals, it is of fundamental importance to introduce two light snacks in the body, one in the middle of the morning and the other in the afternoon. Wondering why? I will answer you immediately. In this way there is a stabilization of the glycemic level or glycaemia during the day. The reduction in the glycemic peak, also called hypoglycemia (low blood glucose concentration), below 60 mg per deciliter of blood leads to crunching out between meals. Another piece of advice I give you is to not eat fat before going to bed; these do not increase energy but can increase the harmful effects of cholesterol and blood ketones with consequent loss of minerals. Introduce at least two liters of water every day, preferably as it is out of meals. Carbonated water is not recommended by many personal trainers, according to my thesis it can help facilitate digestion by dilating the gastric walls.

I hope that following these dietary and nutritional habits will help you lead a healthy lifestyle.
