Indications Vitamin PP Angelini ® - Nicotinamide

VITAMIN PP ANGELINI ® is indicated in the prevention and treatment of all conditions characterized by an increased need for nicotinamide, nicotinic acid and tryptophan.

Mode of action Vitamin PP Angelini ® - Nicotinamide

Nicotinamide, also known as vitamin B3 or vitamin PP, is a water-soluble vitamin necessary for the synthesis of coenzymes fundamental for normal oxidation-reduction reactions such as nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) and nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADP).

In balancing the cellular economy, these compounds guarantee:

  • The realization of the correct redox reactions, necessary both in the catabolic and biosynthetic phases of the various macromolecules (fatty acids, proteins and carbohydrates);
  • The control of numerous cellular activation pathways, necessary to regulate fundamental activities such as proliferation, cell differentiation, apoptosis and survival.

Vitamin B3 deficiency, fortunately rare nowadays and present almost exclusively in developing countries or in cancer patients suffering from carcinoid syndrome, manifests itself with a serious pathology called pellagra characterized by serious gastro-intestinal and neurological disorders such as diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, headache, depression, disorientation, memory loss and dementia.

Studies carried out and clinical efficacy

1. NICOTINAMIDE AND PANCREATIC FUNCTIONALITY

Experimental study that seeks to characterize from a molecular point of view, the beneficial effects on pancreatic beta function exerted by the administration of nicotinamide.

2. POOR DIET OF NICOTINAMMIDE AND CONGENITAL CARDIAC DEFECTS

Work that shows how a diet rich in saturated fatty acids and low in B vitamins, such as riboflavin and nicotinamide, can significantly increase the risk of developing heart disease in unborn children.

3. NICOTINAMMIDE AND CIGARETTE SMOKE

Study that shows how nicotinamide intake can contribute minimally to the reduction of genotoxic damage caused by the carcinogenic catabolites of cigarette smoking.

Method of use and dosage

VITAMIN PP ANGELINI ®

Solution for injection for intramuscular use of 100 mg of nicotinamide per ml of solution:

Vitamin PP should be administered under strict medical supervision.

In principle, the use of 1 or 2 daily vials, taken intramuscularly, should be sufficient to restore the normal concentrations of this vitamin and determine a regression of the symptoms.

Warnings Vitamin PP Angelini ® - Nicotinamide

The use of antituberculosis drugs such as the Eisionazide could lead to an increase in the need for nicotinamide, thus requiring the need for integration.

The 18 mg daily nicotinamide could be reached, without too much difficulty, through a balanced diet containing foods of animal origin.

Parenteral administration was more frequently associated with the appearance of adverse, allergic reactions, concentrated mainly at the injection site.

PREGNANCY AND BREASTFEEDING

Nicotinamide has been shown to be free of fetal toxicity, when taken during the period of pregnancy, according to the appropriate medical indications.

Moreover, experimental studies show that this vitamin can antagonize the teratogenic effect of various chemical inducers.

Interactions

Although active ingredients capable of significantly altering the pharmacokinetic properties of nicotinamide are not currently known, the concomitant administration of lovastatin appears to significantly increase the risk of rhabdomyolysis.

Contraindications Vitamin PP Angelini ® - Nicotinamide

Taking VITAMIN PP ANGELINI ® is contraindicated in case of hypersensitivity to the active ingredient or to one of its excipients.

Undesirable effects - Side effects

The disproportionate intake and at particularly high doses of nicotinamide has been associated with the appearance of gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea and vomiting and neurological symptoms such as hot flushes.

In some cases, even at lower doses, it was possible to observe a reddening of the skin on the face, upper limbs and chest, fortunately clinically insignificant.

Note

VITAMIN PP ANGELINI ® can be sold only with a medical prescription.
