Itchy nose - Causes and Symptoms

Definition

Itching of the nose is a symptom that can cause significant discomfort. Most often it is caused by an allergic reaction, but it can be triggered by several other conditions. It is not rare, in fact, that some inflammatory processes affecting the upper respiratory tract (eg colds) begin with the sensation of a nose that pinches or itches. Furthermore, nasal itching may manifest itself in the context of certain dermatological conditions, such as eczema or contact dermatitis; this event can be induced, for example, by the use of cosmetics and personal care products that contain ingredients to which we are sensitive (eg cleansers, face creams, shampoos). Sometimes, the appearance of blisters or itchy skin lesions on the tip of the nose is a consequence of herpes simplex virus infection or the reactivation of the varicella-zoster virus. Other possible causes are the lack of humidity in the rooms where you are staying and the inhalation of small foreign bodies, smoke, dust and other substances that can cause irritation of the nasal passages.
