Indications GENTALYN ® Gentamicin

GENTALYN ® is successfully used in the treatment of inflammatory skin lesions sustained by Gentamicin-sensitive microorganisms.

Folliculitis, pyoderma, traumatic lesions, ulcers, burns, excoriations and eczema are just some of the pathological conditions for which the use of GENTALYN ® is indicated.

Mechanism of action GENTALYN ® Gentamicin

Gentamicin, active ingredient of GENTALYN ®, is a natural aminoglycoside antibiotic extracted in the laboratory from bacterial cultures of Micromonospora purpurea effective against numerous Gram positive and negative microorganisms such as Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeuriginosa, E.Coli, Proteus vulgaris generally responsible for skin infections and superinfections.

The aforementioned therapeutic activity is supported by an effective mechanism of action which involves the binding of Gentamicin to the 30S ribosomal subunit and the consequent block of the process of protein synthesis.

The absence of enzymatic factors and structural proteins that derives from this inhibition, induces the rapid death of the bacteria and the gradual remission of the complained symptomatology.

Everything is also facilitated by the excellent pharmacokinetic properties of Gentamicin used topically, which significantly reduce the systemic absorption of the drug so as to be completely insignificant.

Studies carried out and clinical efficacy

THE USE OF THE GENTAMINE IN THE DIABETIC FOOT

Expert Opin Drug Deliv. 2009 Jun; 6 (6): 639-42. doi: 10.1517 / 17425240902997919.

Experimental study that demonstrates the potential utility of Gentamicin in foam in reducing the risk of infection in diabetic foot ulcers, thus improving the clinical course of the disease.

TOPIC GENTAMINE AND RISK OF POST-SURGICAL INFECTION

Ann Thorac Surg. 2012 Dec; 94 (6): 2033-7. doi: 10.1016 / j.athoracsur.2012.07.044. Epub 2012 Sep 7.

Reser D, Rodriguez Cetina Biefer H, Plass A, Ruef C, Seifert B, Bettex D, Biaggi P, Falk V, Salzberg SP.

Study demonstrating the utility of Gentamicin topically used in reducing the risk of infections following reoperation for post-operative bleeding. These data are particularly important especially for thoracic surgery and intensive care departments, where the risk of post-operative infection is a serious problem.

THE GENTAMYCIN IN THE BACTERIA CONJUNCTIVITY

Zhonghua Yan Ke Za Zhi. 2008 Dec; 44 (12): 1098-102.

Recent study demonstrating the efficacy of Gentamicin, in a formulation suitable for ophthalmic use, in reducing the bacterial proliferation present in the conjunctival sac during bacterial conjunctivitis.
