Indications FRISTAMIN ® - Loratadina

FRISTAMIN ® is indicated for the symptomatic treatment of IgE-mediated diseases such as allergic rhinitis and chronic idiopathic urticaria.

Mechanism of action FRISTAMIN ® - Loratadine

Loratadine, the active ingredient of FRISTAMIN ®, is a second generation H1 receptor antagonist, particularly used in the clinical setting in the treatment of minor allergic diseases such as allergic rhinitis and idiopathic urticaria.

Its pharmacokinetic characteristics, such as to guarantee its classification among second-generation antihistamines, significantly reduce its potential side effects at the level of the central nervous system, while maintaining its effectiveness in action unaltered.

The anti-edema activity against cutaneous venular capillaries, the anti-bronchospasmic action exerted against the upper respiratory tract, gives Loratadine a broad spectrum of action against allergic respiratory and skin diseases while controlling both the sedating action and the atropine-like one typical of first generation antihistamines.

The good pharmacokinetic properties, on the other hand, allow orally-administered Loratadine to carry out its therapeutic action for about 4-6 hours, after which, following intense hepatic metabolism, it will be eliminated as inactive metabolites through the urine.

Studies carried out and clinical efficacy

LORATADINE IN THE TREATMENT OF GASTROENTERITE EOSINOFILA

Med Glas (Zenica). 2013 Feb; 10 (1): 178-82.

An extremely interesting study that demonstrates how Loratadine in association with corticosteroids can be effective in the symptomatic treatment of eosinophilic gastroenteritis, providing a prompt therapeutic response in just 5 days of treatment.

LORATADINE IN ASTHMA TREATMENT

Zhongguo Dang Dai Er Ke Za Zhi. 2011 Nov; 13 (11): 873-7.

Work that re-evaluates the studies of the last 20years, showing how the treatment for a few weeks with Loratadine, turns out to be safe and effective in the small patients suffering from asthma.

LORATADINE COMPARED WITH MORE RECENT ANTISTAMINES

Allergol Int. 2011 Dec; 60 (4): 541-6. doi: 10.2332 / allergolint.10-OA-0300. Epub 2011 Sep 25.

Recent study that re-evaluates the antiallergic efficacy of Loratadine, especially when compared to that of more recently identified antihistamines, identifying the greater efficacy of the latter.

This evidence should guide doctors in the correct prescription.

Method of use and dosage

Warnings FRISTAMIN ® - Loratadina

Before administering FRISTAMIN ®, it would be advisable to consult your doctor, with whom to define the cost-benefit ratio and the appropriate prescription.

Maximum caution should be reserved for patients suffering from severe liver diseases, in which the altered metabolism of this organ could seriously compromise the pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic characteristics of the active ingredient.

FRISTAMIN ® in tablets contains lactose, therefore its use is contraindicated in patients with lactase enzyme deficiency, glucose-galactose malabsorption syndrome, and galactose intolerance.

In order to obtain adequate results, it is recommended to stop taking antihistamines at least 48 hours before allergy tests.

Keep the medicine out of the reach of children.

PREGNANCY AND BREASTFEEDING

Given the ability of Loratadine to pass the breast filter easily, concentrating in breast milk, it should be avoided for use during breastfeeding.

Use during pregnancy, on the other hand, should be justified by the advantageous cost-benefit ratio, and always take place under strict medical supervision.

Interactions

In order to preserve the pharmacological characteristics of Loratadine, avoiding the onset of unpleasant side effects, it would be advisable to avoid the simultaneous intake of active ingredients metabolized at the hepatic level including alcohol.
