Indications NIZORAL ® Ketoconazole

NIZORAL ® is indicated in the treatment of fungal infections of the scalp and skin, supported by microorganisms sensitive to Ketoconazole.

Mechanism of action NIZORAL ® Ketoconazole

NIZORAL ®, although apparently similar to a common shampoo, is a drug based on Ketoconazole, an active ingredient belonging to the category of antimicotics able to inhibit the replication of microorganisms such as dermatophytes, yeasts and fungi, some of which are involved in the genesis of dandruff and seborrheic dermatitis, inhibiting the synthesis of a key element for the structuring of the plasma membrane such as? ergosterol.

This inhibition determines on one hand the greater sensitivity of the cell to the chemical-physical variations of the external environment, on the other the accumulation of intermediate metabolites capable of inhibiting the vital functions of the cell.

The aforementioned activities are carried out relatively quickly and above all without the active principle being absorbed systemically, thus reducing the risk of both clinically relevant drug interactions and systemic side effects.
