Mechanism of action FUCICORT ® Betamethasone + Fusidic Acid

FUCICORT ® is a medicinal specialty that combines two very important active ingredients, with different and complementary therapeutic activities that are particularly useful in the treatment of cutaneous inflammatory lesions complicated by bacterial superinfections. Fusidic acid is in fact a broad-spectrum antibiotic, particularly effective against Gram-positive bacteria and in particular Staphylococcus aureus, Propionibacterium acnes and Corynebacteria, germs generally responsible for bacterial skin super-infections, while Betamethasone valerate is a classic active corticosteroid for topically, able to control cellular events responsible for the secretion of inflammatory cytokines and at the same time to significantly reduce the recruitment of inflammatory cells. The aforementioned mechanisms of action result mainly in the reduction of the inflammatory entity of the lesion and in the inhibition of the bacterial proliferation mechanisms, thus guaranteeing a prompt remission of the symptomatology, in the face of an excellent tolerability.
