Indications BEBEN ® Betamethasone

BEBEN ® is indicated in the treatment of inflammatory and allergic skin conditions such as eczematous dermatitis, dermatitis due to physical agents, psoriasis, lichen ruber planus and intertrigo.

Mechanism of action BEBEN ® Betamethasone

Betamethasone 17-benzoate, active ingredient of BEBEN ®, is a synthetic corticosteroid with long activity, excellent bioavailability, high therapeutic efficacy and more contained side effects than other corticosteroids such as halogenated ones.

Applied topically, this active ingredient is distributed between the various layers of the epidermis to the superficial layer of the dermis, where it performs its therapeutic action by penetrating into the cytosol of the various cells and regulating the expression of different genes involved in the inflammatory cascade.

More precisely, corticosteroids are able to induce the expression of a mediator, known as Lipocortin, which is effective in blocking the activity of the enzyme Phospholipase A2, initiator of the phlogistic cascade and reducing the content of prostaglandins and other molecules endowed with pro-inflammatory, edemigenic, vasodilatory and platelet aggregating activity.

All this takes the form of effective control of the local inflammatory and allergic symptoms.
