Propylene glycol alginate is an additive derived from E400, but unlike the latter it also contains propylene glycol, which can cause liver problems and reduction if taken in large quantities (ie not at the recommended and recommended doses). of mineral and vitamin absorption. At the moment research on this additive is still contradictory.
The propylene glycol alginate can be contained in various foods - such as for example ice cream, puddings, mayonnaise, milkshakes, fresh spreadable cheeses, aromatic sauces, packaged salads, seasoning for molluscs etc. - with a specifically thickening function (without any nutritional value).
Within the recommended doses it does not appear to have any negative side effects.
