E470a (ii): Potassium salts of fatty acids

E470a (iii): Calcium salts of fatty acids

E470b: magnesium salts of fatty acids

Salts of fatty acids are obtained mainly from sources of vegetable origin, but fats of animal origin could also be used.

These additives perform different functions: emulsifier, stabilizer and support; they can also be used as a coating agent.

The aforementioned acids are a complex of acids: stearic, oleic, palmitic and myristinic.

They can be contained in different products.

They are generally considered harmless to the health of the consumer.
