Food supplement based on hydroxy beta methyl butyrate

FORMAT

Bottle of 60 tablets

COMPOSITION

Hydroxy beta methylbutyrate (HMB): salified with calcium

Stabilizer: microcrystalline cellulose

Anti-caking agents: silica dioxide and magnesium stearate

One capsule contains: Hydroxybetyl methyl butyrate 750 mg

Product features HMB - Eurosup

Hydroxy beta methyl butyrate - product derived from the catabolism of the amino acid Leucine. Little present in common foods (pig's milk and fish), it is synthesized in the monster organism in an estimated quantity around 200 / 400mg per day (for a 70 kg man), starting from the leucine transamination product (alpha - ketoiscocaproate) . Its biological role has not yet been clarified, however it seems to fall into different molecular pathways responsible for the modulation of protein synthesis / degradation.

The molecular mechanisms underlying these phenomena have been highlighted by various studies and can be summarized as follows:

  1. Possibility of inhibiting protein degradation through the ubiquitin proteasome system;
  2. Increase protein synthesis, through the stimulation of m TOR;
  3. Inhibit ROS-induced oxidative damage, and reduce pro apoptotic caspase activation;
  4. Activate enzymes involved in the synthesis of molecules necessary to preserve cellular integrity.

POTENTIAL applications in sports

In sports, this supplement is widely used, with different purposes:

  • Reduce exercise-induced muscle damage;
  • Improve athletic performance in terms of endurance and strength;
  • Facilitate recovery;
  • Increase the lean mass;
  • Reduce fat mass.

Rationalization of integration in HMB sports practice - Eurosup

Despite the discovery of the ergogenic properties of this molecule is relatively recent, numerous studies have been done about it, with conflicting results, as is the case for most supplements.

Some, in fact, show improvements both in trained subjects and in the maximum strength, in the improvement of the resistive capacities, in the reduction of fatigue, and in a reduction of markers of muscle damage such as creatine kinase or lactic dehydrogenase.

Others show, in addition to these effects, a significant increase in lean mass and a decrease in fat mass.

Others do not show any kind of benefit.

However, in purely statistical terms, which are however of little importance when dealing with enormous individual variability, the best results are obtained in the improvement of strength (measured with exercises, generally leg extension) in untrained individuals, while the most discussed concern the improvement of body composition.

Recommended use by the company - HMB - Eurosup

Swallow 2 tablets a day with water or other liquid of your choice, preferably with meals. Do not chew the product

Mode of use in HMB sports practice - Eurosup

The various studies carried out agree on defining an administration of 3 g / day of HMB, considering that in most studies there are no positive effects in the short (week).

The administration should be done at 3 different times of the day, as the urinary elimination of this compound is about 14% per gram, while it rises to 29% for the 3 grams.

Given the dosage of this type of supplement, it is impossible to subdivide the 3 grams into 3 different doses, however we could think of a supplementary protocol that includes a capsule in the morning, a pre-workout, a post-workout and a bedtime.

How to optimize your HMB - Eurosup business

Studies show that an improvement in ergogenic potential could be achieved by combining HMB supplementation with a resistive physical activity.

Some studies have not benefited from the synergistic supplementation of HMB and Creatine, making it safe as regards the absence of side effects, but ineffective.

Concurrent administration with BCAAs, could further protect the muscle from proteolysis induced by resistive exercise, but at present there are no studies on this.

Given that in one study the ability to reduce ROS-induced oxidative damage emerged, a potential benefit could be obtained from antioxidant supplementation, but again there is nothing proven

Some studies, instead, show how in cancer patients, the administration of HMB, arginine and glutamate, can improve protein turnover and counteract cachexia (loss of lean mass).

Side effects HMB - Eurosup

The administration of HMB appears to be well tolerated at doses between 3 and 6 grams per day, and well documented in the literature even for several weeks of administration.

Animal studies also show how very high doses are tolerated.

A reduction in blood pressure was recorded in some studies following the administration of HMB, but this appears to be due to the presence of calcium in the product.

Precautions for use HMB - Eurosup

The product is contraindicated in cases of renal or hepatic disease, cardiovascular disease and / or hypertension, during pregnancy, during lactation, under 12 years and for adolescents not yet trained.

In the event of prolonged use (over 6/8 weeks), medical advice is required.
