Anejaculation - Causes and Symptoms

Definition

Aniaculation is a disorder characterized by the complete absence of ejaculation at the time of orgasm, so there is no emission of seminal fluid.

The origin of the disorder can be psychic in nature and can be linked to performance anxiety, sexual inhibition, fear of conception or traumatic events. In other cases, on the other hand, it may depend on organic causes, such as neurological dysfunctions, prostate or seminal vesicle diseases, endocrine disorders (eg diabetic neuropathy) and congenital or acquired mechanical occlusions of ejaculatory ducts.

Nerve-like anjaculation can be observed following spinal cord trauma or post-surgical lesions. It is also found in association with Parkinson's disease and multiple sclerosis.

Aging, alcohol abuse and the intake of certain antidepressant, antipsychotic and antihypertensive drugs can also be predisposed to this.

In contrast, obstructive anjaculation can result from persistent inflammation, a tumor or a defect in prostate development, seminal vesicles, ejaculatory ducts and the urethral canal.

Anjaculation may also depend on social or religious reasons. It is observed, for example, in the case of tantric sexual practices and among orthodox Jews, for whom masturbating (therefore "wasting" the seminal fluid) means transgressing the laws of the Old Testament, based on the history of Onan (considered the historical precursor of interrupted coitus).
