Indications FUCIDIN ® Fusidico Acid

FUCIDIN ® is indicated in the treatment of infections caused by bacteria sensitive to fusidic acid.

Mechanism of action FUCIDIN ® Fusidic Acid

FUCIDIN ® is a medicinal specialty based on Fusidic Acid, a natural antibiotic extracted from Fusidium Coccineum, from which the name derives, which is effective against Gram positive organisms such as Staphylococcus aureus, Propionibacterium acnes and Corynebacteria.

Applied topically, this antibiotic is able to easily permeate the plasma membranes of the bacteria, binding and inhibiting a factor, known as the G elation factor, involved in the synthesis of the peptide chain.

Evidently this inhibition induces a block of protein synthesis with a consequent lack of enzymatic factors and structural proteins that determine the death of the microorganism.

Following the topical application of FUCIDIN ® Fusidic acid is not absorbed systemically, thus reducing the risk of potential side effects.

Studies carried out and clinical efficacy

FUSIDIC ACID IN THE ECZEMA SEVERO

J Drugs Dermatol. 2012 Jul; 11 (7): 861-4.

Interesting study that demonstrates the effectiveness of the combination of fusidic acid and topical corticosteroids in controlling the symptoms associated with S.Aureus infections and improving the clinical appearance of severe eczema.

FUSIDIC ACID AND CIRCUMFACIAL PLASMACYTOSIS

J Dermatol. 2009 Apr; 36 (4): 232-6. doi: 10.1111 / j.1346-8138.2009.00629.x.

Interesting work that demonstrates for the first time the efficacy of fusidic acid in the treatment of circumfacial plasmacytosis, with a clear improvement in both the symptoms and the histological conditions of the tissue.

THE EFFECTIVENESS OF FUSID ACID IN STAPHILOCOCCUS INFECTIONS RESISTANT METICILLINE

Burns. 2005 Nov; 31 (7): 874-7. Epub 2005 Jul 11.

Experimental study that demonstrates the greater efficacy of fusidic acid than other antibiotics in the treatment of cutaneous infections sustained by methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus especially in the case of burns.

Method of use and dosage

FUCIDIN ®

Cream and ointment for cutaneous use of 20 mg of fusidic acid.

Always according to medical indications, 2-3 applications per day are generally recommended, depending on the severity of the infection and the patient's clinical conditions.
