Definition

Ovarian pain is a symptom attributable to the lower left and / or right side of the abdomen.

In fertile age, this manifestation is quite frequent near ovulation, when the follicle is releasing the ripened egg cell, to make it available for possible fertilization. In this case, they occur about halfway through the cycle of pangs at the pelvic level, which are associated with other symptoms, such as the loss of cervical mucus of stringy and transparent appearance.

The pain in the ovaries may recur before the onset of menstruation, due to the presence of the corpus luteum. This symptom can also be felt in the first phase of pregnancy.

Therefore, within certain limits, pain in one or both ovaries can be considered a harmless nuisance.
