Can glaucoma be prevented?

Glaucoma is an insidious and dangerous sight, but fortunately prevention is possible. On the contrary, it plays a fundamental role considering that it allows us to identify the disease when it does not cause any particular symptoms.

The eye tests that allow the prompt identification of glaucoma include the measurement of ocular tone (tonometry), which is subjected to every two years after 40, with assessment of the visual field and execution of pachymetry (measurement of corneal thickness) in suspect cases.

Furthermore, tonometry allows to control changes in eye pressure over time and monitor the effectiveness of the treatment prescribed by the specialist.
