Mechanism of action DUOFILM ® Salicylic acid and lactic acid

DUOFILM ® owes its therapeutic properties to the presence of its two active ingredients: lactic acid and salicylic acid.

Both characterized by important keratolytic properties, applied topically, as they are highly irritating to the gastric mucosa, guarantee a normalization of the cutaneous tissue reducing the classical hyperkeratosis present during corns and warts and restoring the correct balance of the stratum corneum.

The aforementioned activities are also aided by the fungicidal action of salicylic acid, which is important in reducing the harmful action of fungi and pathogenic microorganisms that usually contribute to the pathogenesis of these manifestations.

Studies carried out and clinical efficacy

EFFECTIVENESS AND SAFETY OF LACTIC AND SALICYLIC ACID IN THE TREATMENT OF WARTS

Mymensingh Med J. 2012 Oct; 2: 145-53.

Interesting study that shows how the distribution of salicylic acid in the stratum corneum does not depend so much on the dosage used as on the pharmaceutical formulation. In particular, the topical bioavailability of the product appears to be maximum in colloid formulations.

PLANTAR WARS IN HIV POSITIVE PATIENTS: THE IMPORTANCE OF PREVENTION

J Am Podiatr Med Assoc. 2001 Feb; 91 (2): 79-84.

Study demonstrating the need to devise a prevention protocol and not just a therapeutic one for the treatment of plantar warts in HIV positive patients, and therefore decidedly more subject to these cutaneous manifestations.
