Wellness

By Luca Penzi

More and more, in the sector magazines and on television we hear about WELLNESS, but what does it mean?

Quite simply it is the union of the English words WELL (good) and FITNESS, in short, physical activity linked to well-being!

Many centers have mini spas, real well-equipped spas where we can massage, mud, peel, tan ... in short, take care of ourselves, perhaps after a good sweat in the weight room or in riding a bike after a spinning lesson.

The managers of the gyms have noticed that, due to the increasing rate of stress that, alas, grips us and does not let us breathe, we need something more than the obsolete weight room.

Therefore we welcome all those "new" disciplines aimed at making us rediscover or maintain the much-coveted physical form; pilates, pancafit, holistic stretching and anything else ever!

But be careful, just because it is a novelty does not mean that it is "functional" (another word dear to industry insiders) always rely on qualified personnel, now almost all the centers are equipped with it, it is the prestige of the structure itself: once was enough being muscularly equipped to be an instructor, now it is not uncommon to find physiotherapists who are personal trainers, motor science graduates who become aerobics instructors and so on, all for the benefit of the client who (rightly) is increasingly informed and demanding...

... and I would like to see!

How many cases have passed through the hands of boys who, without any serious guidance, have undergone marines-style training just because they trusted the instructor (improvised but very muscular) whose results were then to say the least serious: tendinitis, stress from overtraining, muscle tears, abnormal blood tests, more or less serious postural defects and, in most cases, the ultimate goal (increased mass and muscle tone) missed and not a little!

I know, I have dwelt a bit, but it was necessary to try to make you understand that the human body is an "almost" perfect machine, and, as such, it must be treated with due respect, the lack of which can lead to damage also serious!

So my advice is the following: choose a center that offers a good variety of disciplines, check that they are held by valid staff, choose the one that suits you and above all ...

... try to have fun, because your brain definitely needs it, neither more nor less than the rest of the body!

A hug and ...

... good wellness to all!
