Directions VERAX Blu ® Benzidamina hydrochloride

VERAX Blu® is successfully used in the treatment of inflammatory and irritative diseases of the pharyngeal or oral cavity during gingivitis, stomatitis, aphthae, pharyngitis, laryngitis and other diseases of the oral cavity and upper respiratory tract.

Mode of action VERAX Blue ® Benzidamine hydrochloride

VERAX Blu® is a drug based on Benzidamine, an indole derivative with non-steroid anti-inflammatory activity, therefore able to control the inflammatory event using dose-dependent mechanisms of action.

More precisely, low-dose Benzidamine is able to improve the stability of cellular membranes and vascular membranes, reducing the accumulation in the cellular cells and cytokines of inflammation, while at high doses it is effective in inhibiting the synthesis of some prostaglandins, such as PGF2, PGD2 and TXA2, responsible for platelet aggregation and inflammation expansion.

Recent studies have also attributed to this active ingredient also an anti-edema, myorelaxing and spasmolytic action, useful on the whole to control inflammation and pain during inflammatory diseases of the oral cavity or upper respiratory tract.

Therapeutic activity is further supported by good pharmacokinetic properties, which definitely limit the risk of side effects following the topical use of the drug, given the low systemic absorption.

Studies carried out and clinical efficacy

CHLOREXEDINE + BENZIDAMINE IN THE TREATMENT OF VIRAL PHARINGITIS

Ear Nose Throat J. 2010 Nov; 89 (11): 546-9.

Cingi C, Songu M, Ural A, Yildirim M, Erdogmus N, Bal C.

A study conducted on over 164 patients which demonstrates how the association between chlorhexidine and benzydamine can be effective and well tolerated in improving the quality of life in patients suffering from acute viral pharyngitis.

PHOTOSENSIBILIZATION FROM BENZIDAMINE

Contact Dermatitis. 2010 Aug; 63 (2): 85-8.

Clinical trial that reveals the appearance of photosensitization, characterized by dermatitis of the lips, in patients undergoing treatment with benzidamine and subsequently exposed to ultraviolet radiation.

CLINICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF BENZIDAMINE IN BUCCALE GEL

Pharm Dev Technol. 2009; 14 (6): 623-31.

Pharmacokinetic study that evaluates the biochemical and clinical characteristics of the use of bioadhesive buccal gels based on Benzidamine, in the treatment of oral cavity ulcers.

The results seem as encouraging as to suggest a clinical use.

Method of use and dosage

VERAX Blu®

0.15 gr mouthwash of Benzidamine hydrochloride per 100 ml of product.

We generally recommend 2-3 rinses a day with 15 ml of product or pure or diluted in a little water.

It is recommended not to extend the therapy beyond 3-5 days of treatment; should symptoms persist it would be advisable to consult your doctor.

Warnings VERAX Blu ® Benzidamina hydrochloride

A careful inspection of the oral cavity should be recommended before using VERAX Blu®, in order to identify the possible presence of mucosal lesions due to systemic diseases of greater clinical relevance.

Prolonged use of VERAX Blu® could cause the appearance of sensitization to the active ingredient, thus requiring the suspension of therapy.

It is recommended to keep the product out of the reach of children.

VERAX Blu® contains parahydroxybenzoates, excipients with a strong allergenic power.

PREGNANCY AND BREASTFEEDING

The use of VERAX Blu® should be limited exclusively to cases of real need during pregnancy and in the subsequent period of breastfeeding, given the absence of studies able to characterize the safety profile for the health of the fetus and infant .

Given the low systemic absorption of the active ingredient, clinically relevant drug interactions are not known to date.

The use of VERAX Blu® is contraindicated in patients who are hypersensitive to the active substance or to one of its excipients.

Undesirable effects - Side effects

The use of VERAX Blu® is well tolerated and has no clinically relevant side effects.
