Indications ACY ® Aciclovir

ACY ® is indicated for the treatment of Herpes Simplex skin infections.

Action mechanism ACY ® Aciclovir

ACY ® is a drug based on acyclovir, the active ingredient successfully used in the treatment of cutaneous infections caused by visus like Herpes Simplex type 1 and 2.

Its therapeutic activity is due to the ability of the active principle to easily permeate the membranes of infected cells, to be transformed into the active compound Aciclovir triphosphate by the viral thymidine kinase enzyme and thus inhibit the viral DNA polymerase.

The above biological mechanisms are concretized with the arrest of the viral replication and the consequent remission of the symptomatology in progress.

Topical use of this medicine, greatly limiting the systemic absorption of the drug, makes the therapy as safe and free from clinically relevant side effects.

Studies carried out and clinical efficacy

EFFECTIVENESS OF COMBINED THERAPY IN POSITIVE HIV PATIENTS

An Bras Dermatol. 2011 Sep-Oct; 86 (5): 1043-5.

Study demonstrating the need to combine aciclovir with other drugs such as Imiquimod to optimize the therapeutic response to particular cases of relapsing Herpes simplex such as that affecting HIV positive patients.

ACICLOVIR IN THE PREVENTION OF ERPETIC POST OPERATIVE KERATITIS

Am J Ophthalmol. 2008 Feb; 145 (2): 198-202. doi: 10.1016 / j.ajo.2007.10.005.

Clinical trial that demonstrates the greatest efficacy of systemic aciclovi over topical ones in reducing the incidence of herpetic keratitis following keratoplasty.

HVAC RESISTANT HSV

Am J Med. 2006 May; 119 (5): e9-11.

Study that reaffirms the importance of evaluating the possible presence of HSV viral strains resistant to Acyclovir in order to establish suitable therapy also based on other topical antivirals such as the Imiquimod.
