B12 Supplements Without Cyanide

Recently a vitamin B12 supplement different from the traditional ones has been proposed, called methylcobalamin. As the name suggests (methyl), this is not a cyano-cobalamin and is offered in liquid form (drops) to be taken in sublingual form (doses of 5 mg). The metabolic fate and the biological distribution of methylcobalamin should be identical to those of cyan B12 present in foods of animal origin.

Although the food safety of traditional (cyan-) B12-based supplements is now widely demonstrated, we recall that methylcobalamin does not release any trace of cyanide.
