Plastids or chloroplasts

They are organelles typical of vegetables, also surrounded, like mitochondria, by a double lipoproteic membrane. Inside there is a matrix containing round lamellas placed one above the other to form stacks called grains. Thin and little thick lamellae called stromal lamellae originate from the lamellae of the grains. The lamellas act as a support for single units, called quantosomes, which are aggregates of enzymes and pigments and provide to capture the light energy (photons) by activating the photosynthetic organic carbonation process, starting from CO2 and H2O to build glucose (C6H12O6) releasing oxygen.

Plastids also contain DNA, RNA and ribosomes of the prokaryotic type.
