Piadina calories

Typical of Romagna, piadina is a food product obtained by cooking a mixture of flour, water, salt and lard (or olive oil) for a few minutes, worked to obtain a low thickness and a circular shape. In this way the piadina can be stuffed, like a sandwich, with mozzarella type ingredients, salami and various types of vegetables. Once the ingredients are distributed, before or after cooking, the dough is enclosed to give it the classic semicircle shape, turning the piadina into an authentic "fast-food". Fast to prepare and to cook, it does not need cutlery or a table to sit on, revealing itself to be a formidable ally for those forced to skip a meal for work. But how many calories does a piadina have ? The answer depends mainly on the choice of ingredients and the weight of the dough, given that its composition is fairly uniform.

However, given the addition of oils and fats, the absence of leavening and the lower humidity, for the same weight the piadina pasta contains about 25% more calories than bread, getting very close to the caloric value of pasta and rice.

To facilitate the calories calculation of the piadina we have prepared a simple calculation form: it is sufficient to select the various ingredients from the drop-down menu, specifying the added quantities each time. In the first menu it is possible to select the calories of the dough, given that this parameter varies slightly depending on the ingredients (type of flour, quantity and quality of fat, etc.). If you do not know the exact value, keep the standard value of 340 calories. A common piadina (only dough) weighs on average about 120-130 grams.
