E252 - POTASSIUM NITRATE

Potassium nitrate is a chemical preservative, which appears as a white powder, used to maintain the hue of the colors present in foods.

It is mainly contained in cheeses, meat and meat products, pizza etc.

Nitrates do not have great side effects per se, but being able to be transformed into nitrite, through heating or through other processes, can cause hyperactivity, asthma, insomnia, nausea, dizziness, low blood pressure.

Frequent consumption above the ADI dose is not recommended.

ADI DOSE : 3.7- 5.0 mg per kg of body weight.
