Herbal tea against cystitis

The fight against recurrent cystitis of bacterial origin can make use of special infusions, which, being liquid preparations, amplify the diuretic effects of the various natural extracts. This urge for diuresis is potentially useful in the treatment of cystitis, since it produces a washing-away effect on the urinary tract, facilitating the excretion of bacteria and hindering its nesting.

Nature also offers antiseptic plant extracts, such as the traditional bearberry, very useful in the presence of cystitis; however, due to the infusion's low extraction capacity, these natural remedies are mostly used in the form of dried extracts or tinctures. The picture is completed by antispasmodic and anti-inflammatory drugs, useful in the phases of exacerbation of cystitis to limit pain.

Herbal tea against cystitis: the examples

As anticipated, not all the drugs mentioned can be exploited for the preparation of herbal teas, either for the hardness of the plant tissues that compose them (rhizome, bark, roots etc.), or for the poor solubility in water of the active ingredients that characterize them . Below are two classic examples of herbal teas to fight cystitis.

Herbal tea 1 against cystitis

Herbal tea against cystitis
Bearberry (leaves)40
Ononide (root)20
Ortosifon (leaves)20
Gramigna (root)15
Peppermint (leaves)5

Decoction: boil a dessert spoon (2-4 g) of mixture in 150 ml of water for about 15 minutes, then filter. Alternatively this tea for cystitis can be cold prepared by maceration in water for several hours; after filtration, the preparation should still be boiled for a couple of minutes. Unless otherwise prescribed by a doctor, it is advisable to take a cup 3-4 times a day and not to use it for longer than a week, maximum two.

To enhance the antiseptic action of bearberry it is advisable to obtain basic urine favoring the consumption of plant foods, or adding a pinch of baking soda to each cup. The use of the ononide root should take place at alternate periods, for example by putting in a pause of 5 days every 5 days of employment.

To combat cystitis, a generous intake of fluids throughout the day is useful.
