Mechanism of action ZINERYT © Erythromycin + Zinc

ZINERYT © is a medicinal specialty widely used in dermatology in the topical treatment of acne vulgaris.

Among the innumerable conditions predisposing to the typical inflammatory lesions present in this pathology it is possible to find a high concentration of free fatty acids, the cause of obstruction of the sebaceous glands with a consequent comedogenic phlogistic response.

Antibiotic treatment with erythromycin has been shown to be particularly effective in these cases, by reducing bacteriostatic activity, the bacterial skin charge mainly represented by Propionibacetrium acnes and Staphylococcus auerus, therefore also the relative secretion of free fatty acids.

However, recent studies have shown that erythromycin can also perform an indirect anti-inflammatory action, reducing the production by the aforementioned microbial species of chemotactic elements, able to recall cellular elements of phlogosis.

In this regard, the addition of zinc proved to be supportive, appreciably reducing the local concentration of inflammatory cytokines such as IL 1 and IL 6, thereby modulating the phlogistic capacities of these molecules.

At the same time, the low systemic absorption of the active ingredients contained in ZINERYT © significantly reduces the side effects of the therapy and the possible complications.

3. ZINCO AND PHARMACOCINETIC PROPERTIES OF ERITROMYCIN
