Indications SURSUM ® - Tocopherol

SURSUM ® is indicated in the prevention and treatment of vitamin E deficiency states even when symptomatic and in cases where it is necessary to enhance endogenous antioxidant activity.

Mechanism of action SURSUM ® - Tocopherol

The alpha tocopherol, a biologically active form of vitamin E, is a fat-soluble vitamin, which is taken orally, is absorbed at the intestinal level and subsequently distributed to the real tissues, and in particular to the liver, in a manner similar to that of any other food lipid.

However, with respect to the latter, the biological action of vitamin E is of particular importance in the prevention of structural damage to the cell membranes, through a process of prevention of oxidative damage, which is expressed both by the inhibition of the lipid peroxidation process that with a significant reduction in the haematic content of oxidized LDL, responsible together with the alterations of the vascular flow of atherosclerotic complications.

Therefore, vitamin E deficiency, fortunately associated almost exclusively with morbid conditions such as liver disease and intestinal malabsorption syndromes, is responsible for neurological symptoms such as peripheral neuropathy and ataxia, muscle like myopathies and cardiovascular diseases, such as atheroslcerotic diseases and related complications.

Studies carried out and clinical efficacy

1. VITAMIN AND PREVENTION OF CHRONIC PULMONARY DISEASES

Thorax. 2011 Apr; 66 (4): 320-5. Epub 2011 Jan 21.

Clinical study that compared over 35, 000 enrolled patients who demonstrated that the daily intake of 600 IU of vitamin E guaranteed a 10% reduction in the risk of developing chronic lung diseases in women such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

2. VITAMIN AND METABOLIC SYNDROME

Int J Vitam Nutr Res. 2010 Jun; 80 (3): 178-87.

The administration of vitamin E in women suffering from metabolic syndrome has been shown to be effective in reducing blood concentrations of markers of oxidative damage such as malonildialdehyde. This effect could be fundamental in the prevention of cardiovascular complications.

3. VITAMIN E AND ATOPIC DERMATITIS

J Dermatolog Treat. 2011 Jun; 22 (3): 144-50. Epub 2010 Jul 24.

Work that shows how supplementation with vitamin E and vitamin D may be effective in improving the symptoms in patients with atopic dermatitis.

Method of use and dosage

SURSUM ®

Soft capsules of 200-400 mg of alpha tocopherol in an oily solution.

In light of the daily requirement of vitamin E and its bioavailability profile when taken orally,

the doses used in the treatment of the deficiency states should be between 100 and 300-400 mg of alpha tocopherol daily.

The precise dose should be established by your doctor based on the physio-pathological characteristics of the patient.

Warnings SURSUM ® - Tocopherol

SURSUM ® should be prescribed by your doctor, in case of real need or to cope with pathological conditions characterized by a strong oxidative stress.

  • Digital, could determine an increase in the therapeutic effects of the latter.

Contraindications SURSUM ® - Tocopherol

SURSUM ® is contraindicated in case of hypersensitivity to the active ingredient and its excipients.
