E514 (i) SODIUM SULPHATE
E 514 (ii) SODIUM ACID SULPHATE
Sodium sulfate is obtained from salt and sulfuric acid.
It has different functions: stabilizer, filling agent, acidity regulator and synthetic technological adjuvant.
It can be contained in various products, such as chewing gum and dyes.
At the moment there are conflicting claims on the effects that this additive can have on humans: some researchers think that it can have harmful side effects on the kidneys and the heart, and also cause digestive disorders; others, however, consider it harmless to human health. Not recommended especially for pregnant or nursing women, babies and children.
Therefore, as there is no security on the effects that sodium sulfate can have on health, it is not recommended to consume high doses.
