The vastus lateralis is one of the four heads that form the quadriceps muscle.
It originates from the lateral face and the anterior border of the great trochanter and from the lateral lip of the rough line of the femur.
It is inserted into the patella with a tendon common to the other garments.
With his action he extends his leg.
It is innervated by the femoral nerve (L2, L4).
