Indications VIVIN C ® Acetylsalicylic acid + Ascorbic acid

VIVIN C ® is indicated in the treatment of painful states on an inflammatory basis of various nature and in the symptomatic treatment of febrile states and flu syndromes.

Mechanism of action VIVIN C ® Acetylsalicylic acid + Ascorbic acid

The simultaneous presence of ascorbic acid and acetylsalicylic acid make VIVIN C ® a particularly effective medicine in the treatment of pain and fever associated with inflammatory events and cooling syndromes.

The particular efficacy of this drug can be traced back to the synergistic action of the two active ingredients contained in it, able to best carry out the desired citoprotective, analgesic and anti-inflammatory action.

More precisely :

  • The analgesic activity is linked to the ability of acetylsalicylic acid to reduce the expression of some mediators such as bradykinin, capable of stimulating the peripheral terminations of nociceptors;
  • The antipyretic action is carried out by acetylsalicylic acid through the inhibition of the production of prostaglandins, able to act on the hypothalamic thermoregulatory center, raising the level of the basal temperature;
  • The anti-inflammatory action is guaranteed by the ability of acetylsalicylic acid to inhibit the action of cyclooxygenases, enzymes involved in the transformation of arachidonic acid into mediators with vasopermeabilization, vasodilatatrica and chemotactic activity;
  • The antioxidant action is instead carried out by ascorbic acid, through a direct mechanism of reduction oxide, and by an indirect one necessary to regenerate vitamin E;
  • The cytoprotective action is exercised by both active ingredients, reducing tissue damage while facilitating repair.

Ascorbic acid, according to some studies, also seems able to improve the pharmacokinetic properties of acetylsalicylic acid, significantly improving its bioavailability and reducing its irritative and toxic action on the gastro-enteric mucosa.

Studies carried out and clinical efficacy

1. THE ASCORBIC ACID IN THE PREVENTION OF GASTRODUODENAL DAMAGE INDUCED FANS

Gut. 1996 Apr; 38 (4): 518-24.

Work that demonstrates how the presence of ascorbic acid and its particular antioxidant efficacy, can protect the gastro-duodenal mucosa from the damage induced by acetylsalicylic acid. This preventive action seems related to the genesis of mucosal damage, supported by reactive oxygen species.

2. THE MOLECULAR ACTION OF THE COMBINATION OF ASCORBIC ACID + ACETYLSALICYL ACID

Mol Cell Biochem. 1999 Sep; 199 (1-2): 93-102.

Experimental study focused on the characterization of the support effect exerted by vitamin C against ascorbic acid. More precisely, the combination of these two active ingredients seems to be able to extinguish the expression of pro-inflammatory genes, involved in the genesis of inflammatory damage.

3. ACETYLSALYCLIC ACID IN THE PROTECTION OF OXIDATIVE DAMAGE POST-TRAINING

Respir Physiol Neurobiol. 2002 Apr; 130 (2): 189-99.

Very interesting study conducted on athletes of various disciplines that demonstrates how the intake of acetylsalicylic acid at doses of 10 mg / kg can reduce the damage induced by the post-workout oxidative stress, protecting the cell from degenerations of various kinds, including that relating to potassium permeability.

Method of use and dosage

VIVIN C ®

Effervescent tablets of 330 mg of acetylsalicylic acid and 200 mg of ascorbic acid.

For the symptomatic treatment of febrile states or cooling flu syndromes we recommend taking 1-2 tablets 3 times a day.

It is advisable to dissolve the tablet in a glass of water, preferring to take it on a full stomach.

Warnings VIVIN C ® Acetylsalicylic acid + Ascorbic acid

Note the incidence and severity of the various side effects usually associated with acetylsalicylic acid therapy, it would be necessary to consult your doctor before taking VIVIN C ®.

In order to reduce the incidence of adverse reactions, it is recommended to take VIVIN C ® with a full stomach and in the lowest possible doses, however, able to carry out the desired therapeutic effect.

The possible appearance of side effects, should alarm the patient, who after consulting his doctor, could consider the possibility of suspending therapy.

Particular caution in the use of VIVIN C ® is required for elderly patients, suffering from coagulative diathesis, gastro-intestinal, allergic and cardiovascular diseases, given the high susceptibility of these patients to the side effects of acetylsalicylic acid.

PREGNANCY AND BREASTFEEDING

Prostaglandins are known to play a key role in controlling the differentiation and proliferation processes of the various cell lines, contributing to the maintenance of correct embryonic and fetal development.

In this sense, therefore, it is easy to understand how the intake of acetylsalicylic acid during pregnancy, reducing the synthesis of prostaglandins, can compromise normal fetal development, facilitating the onset of unwanted abortions and even serious malformations.

For this reason the use of VIVIN C ® during pregnancy is contraindicated.

Interactions

Although the dosages of acetylsalicylic acid present in VIVIN C ® make it possible to minimize the expected drug interactions, it is worth remembering that the simultaneous assumption of:

  • Oral anticoagulants and inhibitors of serotonin reuptake, may determine an increased risk of bleeding;
  • Diuretics, ACE inhibitors, angiotensin II antagonists, methotrexate and cyclosporin, may enhance the hepatic and nephrotoxic effects of acetylsalicylic acid;
  • Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and corticosteroids, may increase the risk of side effects on the gastro-enteric mucosa;
  • Antibiotics, may be responsible for pharmacokinetic and pharmacological alterations of both active ingredients;
  • Sulfonylureas, may alter the carbohydrate metabolic profile, increasing the risk of unexpected hypoglycemia.

Contraindications VIVIN C ® Acetylsalicylic acid + Ascorbic acid

Taking VIVIN C ® is contraindicated in case of hypersensitivity to the active substance or to one of its excipients, angioedema, peptic ulcer, history of intestinal bleeding, ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease or previous history for the same diseases, cerebrovascular bleeding, bleeding diathesis or concomitant anticoagulant therapy, renal failure, liver failure and ongoing viral infections.

Undesirable effects - Side effects

The intake of acetylsalicylic acid, especially when carried out at high doses and for particularly long periods of time, could be associated with the appearance of numerous side effects, distributed homogeneously between the various organs and apparatuses.

In most cases the most clinically relevant symptoms are:

  • Gastroenteritis such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, gastritis, and in severe cases ulcers with possible erosions and bleeding;
  • Nervous symptoms such as headache, dizziness and rarely drowsiness;
  • Dermatological such as itching, skin rash, eczema, urticaria and even severe bullous reactions;
  • Cardiovascular with hypotension, hypertension and increased cardio and cerebrovascular accidents;
  • Sensory with vision and hearing disorders;
  • Respirators such as asthma, dyspnoea, pneumonia and edema;
  • Renal and hepatic, with impaired functionality of both organs and related systems.

Note

VIVIN C ® is salable without medical prescription.
