The numbers of prostate cancer in Italy and in other countries of the world

Prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers in the male population.

Only in Italy, in fact, every year between 36, 000 and 42, 000 new cases are diagnosed. Moreover, recent studies have shown that in the last 10 years - still in our country - the number of patients is constantly increasing. This is due to the increase in the average age of the population (NB: prostate cancer is more widespread among people over the age of 50) and the introduction of the PSA exam.

According to some statistical research, one Italian in 7 develops prostate cancer sooner or later and an Italian every 16 over 50 is a carrier of prostate cancer.

But what are the numbers of prostate cancer in other parts of the world?

In a very populated country such as the United States, in 2013, 238590 new cases were diagnosed. With the latter, the total number of Americans suffering from prostate cancer is around 2.5 million.

Furthermore, according to some statistical surveys, one in six Americans gets sick of prostate cancer sooner or later and an American every 15 over 60 is suffering from a form of prostate cancer.
