Brachial

The brachialis muscle is placed deeper than the brachial biceps. It originates from the distal half of the anterior aspect of the humerus (below the deltoid insertion) and from the intermuscular septa. It ends on the ulnar tuberosity and on the joint capsule.

In contrast to the biceps brachialis muscle it is a monoarticular muscle which, with its action, flexes the forearm.

It is innervated by the musculocutaneous nerve (C5-C6).

ORIGIN

Lower half (distal) of the anteromedial and anterolteral face of the humerus

INSERTION

On the tuberosity of the ulna

ACTION

Flex the forearm

INNERVATION

NUSCLE MUSCLE CLUB (C5-C6); a small lateral portion of the muscle is innervated by the radial nerve
