A vaccine against flatulence and belching

To solve the problem of pollution generated by methane emissions from cattle, scholars have developed a special vaccine.

This drug, aimed primarily at cows and sheep, acts against the methanogenic microorganisms present in the stomach (in particular the rumen) of the animal.

Archaea are the main microorganisms responsible for the production of methane in livestock. An adult cattle can also produce 1, 000 liters of gas per day (mainly methane, carbon dioxide and hydrogen), which are eliminated mainly by breathing and belching. A cow can produce about 17 liters of methane per hour.
