E142 - BRILLIANT GREEN BS OR GREEN LISSAMINA (CI 44090)
The bright green BS or lissamine green is a green dye of synthetic origin. It can be slightly toxic. Present in candied fruit, sweets, syrups, candies, soft drinks, liqueurs.
Side effects are not very well known.
Possible risks: hyperactivity, asthma, skin reactions, insomnia. There is also the risk that it may be carcinogenic at high doses.
ADI DOSE: 5 mg per kg of weight.
