Definition

The epididymitis is an inflammatory process against the epididymis, a particularly long, thin and curled up, which connects the testicle to the vas deferens. During this path the spermatozoa move passively for several days, during which they acquire the ability to fertilize. The cause of epididymitis is usually represented by an infection of bacterial origin (eg E. coli) or a sexually transmitted disease, such as gonorrhea or chlamydia.
