Definition
Anaphylaxis is an acute and violent reaction of the organism towards a particular antigen or allergen (a normally harmless substance that triggers allergic manifestations in some individuals; for example, peanuts, the venom injected by the bee at the time of the bite and some drugs, in particular the penicillin). In order for this reaction, mediated by a sudden and general activation of the immune system, to manifest itself, it is necessary that the organism has already been previously exposed to the antigen. Most common symptoms and signs *

Further indications
The typical symptoms of anaphylactic reaction are related to the massive and generalized release of histamine, a substance that causes swelling (edema), constriction of the bronchioles (bronchospasm), heart failure, cardiocircular insufficiency, collapse and - in the most serious cases - even death. The therapy is based on the rapid administration of adrenaline (epinephrine), which is why anaphylactic shock requires prompt intervention of medical help.
