- E380b: TRI-AMMONIC CITRATE
Ammonium citrate is the ammonium salt of citric acid (E330) produced synthetically.
It is an acidity regulator, a buffer and also an emulsifier. It can be contained in various products, such as chocolate desserts, cream cheese etc.
At the moment there are no known negative side effects when taken at normal doses, as citric acid is a common constituent of cells in the human body.
In large doses, ammonium citrate can cause digestive problems and alterations in liver, kidney and pancreatic functions.
