Hunting method - pigging out (hunting and resting method)

Edited by Antonio Sellaroli

Driven by the wake of the numerous discussions that are taking place in the community of the site, I take the opportunity to write an article that gives a complete vision and traces the guidelines of what is one of the most observed training methods, the HUNTING CYCLE - PIGGING OUT or H-PO cycle of prof. Cianti, which will be for us - made in Italy - the CYCLE OF THE HUNT - REST.

The H-PO method, as it currently appears and developed for power and speed sports, is an integrated training-feeding system, based on splitting in two blocks - of several days each - respectively of the training phase (hunting) and of the resting phase (pigging out), accompanied by different nutritive systems, functional in the first case to the stimulation of testosterone and in the second case to the stimulus of GH and insulin; all this based on documented biological and endocrinological research and experimentation. The hunting method - pigging out, promises prof. Cianti, will give our body results and improvements not of a purely aesthetic nature, but also healthy.

The basics of the H-PO method: hunting method - pigging out (of hunting and resting)

I will start with the nutritional concept known as EVOLUTIONARY DIET or EVODIET; this particular diet starts from the assumption that the animal "homo" was a hunter-gatherer specialized in devouring carrion for two and a half years. Not having fangs or claws, he was forced to feed on the carcasses left by large predators, eggs, insects and berries; consequently, its physiology has developed and evolved based on a poor diet of sugars, but rich in animal proteins, vitamins and vegetable fibers. Moreover, the feeding of the animal "homo" was "cyclical", since it was subjected to periods in which it could find food easily, followed by others in which the availability of food was scarce, just as it happens for animals. Subsequently, only ten thousand years ago, then a breath in evolutionary terms, the birth of agriculture has drastically changed human eating habits. Thanks to cereals and their derivatives, man has begun to introduce excessive amounts of sugar compared to the past, today rather harmful due to a practically unlimited availability that our body is not prepared to accept.

Agriculture would therefore guarantee the survival of many, to the detriment - at least in certain respects - of their health.

In his writings, Cianti reports numerous references on how archeology shows that the onset of metabolic diseases (caries, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, obesity and tumors) coincides with the birth of agriculture; the easy availability of sugars, in particular, would expose our body to all this series of problems, from which our prehistoric ancestors would have been almost immune.

Precisely because of our evolutionary past - marked by phases where man had to procure food (hunting) and then enjoy the spoils of predation and recover from fatigue (rest) - the evolutionary diet will thus be structured:

Diet

Hunting

Rest

Work

Challenging, power and speed exercises

Rest, cardiovascular exercises

5. fish, vegetables, olive oil

1. Whole yogurt, fruit

2. abundant red meat and vegetables, olive oil

3. abundant white meat and vegetables, olive oil, wine

Training according to the hunting method - pigging out

Now let's talk about how the hunting and resting cycle is made up during training.

Given that even in this case we will find the alternation of a "training of the hunt" and a "training of rest", we make a parallel with the history of our evolution, with a particular look at what were the types of physical effort that have distinguished this process.

Our ancestor hunter-gatherer, still shows us the prof. Cianti, followed the natural rhythms that revolve around the mechanism of energy expenditure - energy introduced, therefore regulated by the interrelation between:

  • Food, the energy introduced
  • Activity, energy spent
  • Hormones, which influence each other

Natural rhythms include:

  • Hunting episodes, short intense and rarefied, with the use of the anaerobic energy system - alattacid and a reduced use of muscle and liver glycogen; the determinant hormone is testosterone, which among other things brings with it perception of enthusiasm and motivation.
  • Recovery periods even quite long, with the use of the aerobic energy system and a reduced use of muscle and liver glycogen; the determining hormones in this phase, where the hunting booty was enjoyed, were the GH and the IGF-1, which among other things determine perception of pleasure.

Returning to the present day, we discover that hunting and resting no longer define our lives, and that it is therefore the task of physical exercise to replace those episodes by reinterpreting the natural rhythms of the past and the H-PO cycle, hunting - resting. For what has been said, the H-PO training will respect the following principles:

Activities

Hunting

Rest

Energy metabolism

Anaerobic alactacid

Aerobic

Muscular work

Contractions of 10 "-20" short, intense, rarefied with an expression of great strength and power and long pauses.

Blando, active recovery, complete pauses.

Sport

Body building, power lifting, sports of speed and power, struggle.

Walks, dancing, sports games, swimming, cycling.

days

1 - 3

3-10

Perception

Enthusiasm, motivation

Pleasant, relaxing

The H-PO method is certainly a very interesting approach, worthy of a constructive and critical evaluation since it is theory and not science. Thanks to this article, you now have the basics to implement the modern version of hunting and resting, the answer is yours!
